Communications
- Continue
to improve inter-board relationship of all Boards
- Invite State
& Federal Legislators to meet with Selectmen annually.
- A joint
meeting with Finance Committee and School Committee shall be held
prior to Town Administrator's Budget Message.
- Renew focus
on filling Board vacancies. Invite Board Chairmen to meeting with
Board of Selectmen.
- Use of media
and Internet for greater outreach to residents.
- Hold Neighborhood
Board of Selectmen meetings.
Economic
Development
- Focus on
Downtown revitalization including pursuit of PWED Grant.
- Re-establish
dialogue with Baker Hughes regarding Bird Machine clean-up and
marketing status.
- Recommend
and Advocate for highest level of environmental clean up at Bird
Machine.
- Work towards
development of overlay district(s) for Route 1.
- Pursue greater
financial safety and lifestyle discussions with N.E. Patriots
and Kraft family.
- Economic
Development Committee quarterly updates before BOS.
Education
- Recommend
to the School Committee to pursue a desired class size of 25 with
focus on High School.
- Recommend
School Committee establishes formal fire safety education in K-12
in conjunction with Fire Department.
- Encourage
and support School Committee in expanding SRO program to all schools
including elementary.
- Have Superintendent
come to Board of Selectmen quarterly.
- Request
that Town Administrator be involved in School Administrative Council
meetings.
Facilities
- Renew efforts
for location, design & funding of police/fire facilities.
Hold workshop to discuss sites.
- Invite Friends
of COA to provide update on site status and fundraising in early
2008.
- Complete
Field Master Plan
- Encourage
public/private partnership with local user groups on development
and/or maintenance of fields.
- Adams Farm
Committee to have a better cross section of community for committee
make-up.
- Encourage
& develop "green" environmentally sound regulations
for community development & municipal facilities.
- Explore
the possibility of establishing rail trail bike paths.
Financial
- Continue
to utilize Free Cash for capital budget funding.
- FY09-10
municipal budget to be funded without override.
- Continue
to be creative for FY09 budget revenue.
- Consider
development of fund balance policy for undesignated funds.
- Explore
Health Insurance Savings options, including possibility of GIC
enrollment.
General
Government
- Prioritize
staff plans for DPW for FY'2009.
- Promote
Employee Of The Month program & positive staff recognition.
Roads &
Infrastructure
- Develop
a borrowing program to improve town roads
- Develop
listing of roadways eligible for TIP funding.
- Pursue all
possible state & federal funding for roads.
Affordable Housing
- Submit and
obtain certification from State for Housing Production Plan.
- Implement
year 1 of housing production plan (build target units)
