October 15 Deadline for Local Applications
to Tap $5600 State Grant for 2009
The Walpole Cultural Council (WCC) has been advised by the Massachusetts
Cultural Council (MCC) that it will once again receive a grant to
be distributed to local cultural programs in the year 2009. Walpole's
anticipated allocation for 2009 will be $5600. MCC has a budget
of $13 million, including $12 million from the state of Massachusetts
and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Wallace Foundation,
and other sources. Its funds reach every community in Massachusetts.
The mission of the MCC is to promote excellence, education, access
and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences
in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents
and to contribute to the economic vitality of our communities.
The Walpole
Cultural Council has set an October 15 deadline for organizations,
schools and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural
activities in the community. The objectives of the WCC are to promote
the arts and humanities within Walpole and to ensure that cultural
opportunities are made more accessible to all the citizens of Walpole.
According to WCC spokesperson Joe Donnelly, Jr., these grants can
support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Walpole
- including exhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or
performances in schools, workshops and lectures. Donnelly also says
the Walpole Cultural Council will entertain funding proposals from
schools and youth groups through the PASS Program, a ticket subsidy
program for school-age children.
Applications
for grants to support community cultural programs (LCC) and a ticket
subsidy program for school-age children (PASS) will be available
after September 2, 2008 at the Main Desk of the Walpole Public Library
and at the Walpole Town Hall (outside of the Town Clerk's office.)
Or, you can get an application on-line at www.massculturalcouncil.org
Grant applications
must be completed (only typed applications will be accepted) and
returned by OCTOBER 15, 2008 to:
Walpole Cultural
Council
P.O. Box 162
Walpole, MA 02081
The Walpole
Cultural Council will review the applications and forward its recommendations
to the Massachusetts Cultural Council for final approval.
