The Walpole
Cultural Council is a Local Cultural Council (LCC) of the Massachusetts
Cultural
Council (http://www.mass-culture.org).
Our mission is to provide support for Walpole artists and arts organizations,
and to help Walpole groups to provide access to the arts and sciences.
The Walpole Cultural Council receives grant moneys from the Massachusetts
Cultural Council each year. These funds, in turn, are allocated
to local artists and organizations through the LCC grants program.
We also review applications for the PASS program, which subsidizes
ticket costs to arts events for school and youth groups. Paper applications are available at the Walpole Town Hall across from the Clerk's office and at the Walpole Public Library, or you can download an application from this site (see below). Grant applications
are due on October 15 of each year. The
Walpole Cultural Council usually meets in early November to consider
grant applications for the upcoming year.

Funding
Available for 2011:
$4,240

Our
funding priorities are for projects that:
-
have a broad audience appeal
- represent
new or previously unsupported artists
demonstrate
a benefit to Walpole
- demonstrate
local support with a sponsor or other local tie
show
an impact to our community
Projects
should be scheduled for the upcoming fiscal year (January to December),
since we do not receive funds until January. We
try to support a variety of programs for youth, seniors, and the
general public across all disciplines. Applications with a local
contact or sponsor are given preference. Most grants are small
(under $1,000).
New
Changes implemented in 2009:
-
No
hand-delivered applications will be accepted
-
Applicants
MUST submit a letter of support from a local sponsor
-
Dates
of proposed events must take place between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31,
2011.
-
We
would like to request multiple paper copies (8) of applications
submitted to the Walpole Cultural Council.
The
Council invites suggestions and questions about the grant proposal
process. Please write to us at
