  • Fall 2008 Adult Pottery Classes at Potters Place in Walpole
    127B Old West Street, Walpole MA
    Learn the basics of handbuilding and wheel throwing, with an opportunity to explore more advanced techniques. These classes are for beginners through advanced. Each class meets for 3 hours once a week for 6 weeks starting the week of Sept. 8th. The fee is $200 plus firing fees.
    Morning classes: Tuesdays, 9-12 (with Sue Brum starting September 27 (session 1) or December 2 (session 2)); Wednesdays, 10-1 (with Lizanne Donegan starting September 24 (session 1) or December 3 (session 2); or Thursdays, 10-1 (with Lizanne Donegan starting September 25 (session 1) or December 4 (session 2)).
    Evening classes: Mondays, 6:30-9:30 (with Gay Calo starting September 8 (session 1) or January 7 (session 2)); or Wednesdays, 7-10 (with Henriette Dresens starting October 8).

  • Hitting the Links to Cure PSP, Walpole Country Club, 233 Baker Street, Walpole MA
    PSP is a fatal brain disease with no known cause, treatment or cure and gradually affects the entire body, so that you are unable to speak, swallow, or move. You are aware of your surroundings but can no longer communicate with your loved ones. Dudley Moore died from PSP and actress Patricia Richardson lost her Dad to PSP and is now the Spokesperson for Cure PSP.

  • Fall 2008 Children's Pottery Classes at Potters Place in Walpole
    127B Old West Street, Walpole MA
    Encourage your children (ages first grade and older) to explore their artistic capabilities while getting their hands dirty! Learn basic techniques of coiling, pinching and building with slabs. Some wheel work included. Classes meet for 6 weeks and are led by Lizanne Donegan. Cost is $130 and includes materials and firings.

September 21, Sunday

  • Purr-fect Cat Shelter PetWalk 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Norfolk County Agricultural High School, Rte. 1A, in Walpole.
    Bring friends, family, co-workers and well-behaved dogs for a leisurely three-mile sponsored walk along the wooded paths of the “Aggie” campus. Walkers may register anytime between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. A shorter paved route is also available for those who choose not to walk the path. Participants reaching certain pledge levels will be eligible for prizes. Every dog participating in the PetWalk receives a doggie bandana (while supplies last). Activities will be ongoing throughout the day on the main field, including booths, animal rescue groups, pet samples, demonstrations, a “Taste of Walpole” dog buffet, dog games, face painting and games for the kids, photo contest, raffles, refreshments and live music.

    Walkers should plan their walk to be back in time to enter their dogs in the “Purr-fect Pooch” Contest, which begins at 1:45 p.m. Categories include: wiggliest tail, prettiest pose, best bark, best dressed and best dog/owner look-a-like.

    More information about the PCS PetWalk and registration/sponsor sheets are available on the Web site, www.purrfectcatshelter.org, at various store locations or by calling the message center at 508-533-5855. Limited booth space is still available.

    All proceeds benefit the Purr-fect Cat Shelter, a non-profit, no-kill, all volunteer organization providing service to the areas of Medway, Millis, Franklin, Walpole, Bellingham, Norfolk and surrounding communities.

September 22, Monday

  • Fall 2008 Teen Pottery Classes at Potters Place in Walpole 127B Old West Street, Walpole MA
    For students fifth grade and above. Lizanne Donegan will instruct students to explore the wheel and teach hand building skills. This class is geared toward students who want to go to the next level of creativity and craftsmanship. Cost is $150 and includes material, firing fees are extra.
    Session 1: 3:30-5:15 pm Mondays, Sept 22 - Nov 3; Session 2: 3:30- 5:15 pm Mondays, Dec 1- Jan 12.
