  • Open House at the Deacon Willard Lewis House, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. On exhibit will be our most recent acquisition - the "Hero Project" notebook. The book represents many hours of work by Mike Gilmartin and 40 Walpole High School students on 44 local Veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in military service from World War I to Iraq. This is a tremendous compilation and research of records by the students on these men and an important addition to the collection of the Society. Weather permitting, John and Ethel Simeone will be setting up a Medical Corp US Army WWII display with their 1945 Willys MB Jeep, from 10:00 AM until Noon. So bring a friend and stop in on June 12. There is no charge for admission. We will have books for sale on Walpole's history and other Walpoleana.

  • Adams Farm Open House,10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the barn, 999 North Street and on an one Sunday each month throughout the summer and early fall this year. The public is welcome to stop by to learn more about the Farm and the activities of the Friends. The first Open House will take place on Sunday, June 13, and will feature a set of stuffed animals donated by John Spillane, Walpole’s Animal Control Officer who will soon be retiring. He collected them during his work, primarily as a result of automobile accidents, and sent them to a taxidermist for stuffing, giving us lifelike portrayals of animals native to Adams Farm. The animals will be housed in the barn and could serve as the basis for a permanent nature exhibit at the Farm. You will also be able to see and enjoy the progress on the Woman’s Club Butterfly Garden and the recent addition of a Children’s Garden to it. We hope area residents will stop by one of the Open Houses at Adams Farm this summer or fall, and invite them to take advantage of the almost 15 miles of trails at the Farm. Enjoy the tranquility of a pleasant hike away from traffic noises, and learn what a valuable asset we have in the Farm!
