In December, 2002 the cooperative efforts of the Board of Selectmen and the Personnel Board established the Town of Walpole Employee Recognition Program. Each month the Town will recognize an employee(s) for the vital role they play in the success of our organization and in promoting the Town's commitment to operating in an efficient, customer service orientated manner.

The Employee Recognition Committee has been formed to recognize employees who make exemplary efforts in the pursuit of the Town's customer service ideal and/or who go above and beyond the call in the course of their daily duties. Supervisors, co-workers, customers, or anyone else (i.e., residents, customers, vendors, etc.) who can testify to the exemplary efforts of any Town employee can make nominations. The committee will select one award recipient each month who will be recognized through this website, posting at the Town Hall, and who shall also be awarded with a paid personal day to be used within thirty (30) days from date he or she is so proclaimed "Employee of the Month."

Nomination forms can be obtained at the Town Administrator's office or at the Human Resource's Office. Nomination can also be made directly to the Assistant Town Administrator by letter.

January 2012 Employee of the Month Police Officer Robert Doherty

In his nomination, Police Chief Rick Stillman recognized Officer Doherty’s outstanding efforts during an investigation on January 2, 2012. Officer Doherty’s outstanding investigation efforts led to the identification of a suspect that was involved in a breaking and entering of a vehicle.

December 2011 Employee of the Month Jim Johnson, Ass't Town Administrator

Jim was recognized as the December 2011 Employee of the Month for his willingness to take on additional responsibilities after the Purchasing Coordinator retired.

November 2011 Employee of the Month Don Anderson, Building Maintenance Supt

Over the past several months Don has done a tremendous job as the Building Maintenance Superintendent. He has done a great job coordinating the development of the new Animal Control Shelter. He has been great asset to Permanent Building Committee throughout the construction process of the new library.

October 2011 Employee of the Month Sue Abate, Purchasing Assistant

Sue was selected as the October 2011 Employee of the Month in part because of her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. She has done an excellent job assisting in the Purchasing officer over the past year.

September 2011 Employee of the Month Valorie Donohue, Personnel & Benefits Coordinator

Val was selected as the September 2011 Employee of the Month because of the great work she did this past Fall putting together a salary survey with information gathered from other municipalities. Her outstanding efforts with Personnel Board and her oversight of the insurance budget have been exceptional.

August 2011 Employee of the Month Kathy Hutchinson, Assistant Treasurer/Collector

In his nomination Finance Director, Mark Good recognized Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector Kathy Hutchinson for her your outstanding efforts and the vital role she plays in the success of the Finance Department. Her willingness to work with the public and assist other staff has set an example for all others to follow.

July 2011 Employee of the Month Richard Fernald

In his nomination, Water and Sewer Superintendent recognized Rich Fernald’s outstanding efforts and exceptional customer service in the water and Sewer Department.

June 2011 Employee of the Month Lauren Macomber, Program Director

In her nomination, Aicha Kelly recognized Lauren Macomber’s outstanding efforts in the Recreation Department. Aicha mentioned that Lauren was instrumental in every aspect of the Sand and Salt program last winter. Lauren never hesitated and got down to business; from filling and delivering buckets, to organizing the maps and routes, compiling the lists and putting them in the system. Lauren never skipped a beat.

May 2011 Employee of the Month Dottie Jennings, Accounting Clerk

In her nomination Town Accountant Arti Mehta cited Accounting Assistant Dorothy Jennings's outstanding efforts in the Accounting Department. Dorothy is a tremendous assist to the department.

April 2011 Employee of the Month Police Officer Tim Sullivan

In his nomination Police Chief Richard Stillman recognized Police Officer Tim Sullivan’s outstanding efforts during the Police Department’s investigation of the recent thefts at the Norfolk County Agricultural School and for the arrest he made this past fall in the car theft break-in case.
