Trash Collection Rules and Regulations

Trash Collection is provided by the Town of Walpole, through our contract with Waste Management.

The Town provides trash collection to 1, 2, and 3 family homes and is collected once per week (contact the Health Department at (508)660-7321 for the day your street is collected).

Trash is delayed one day, with Friday's collection on Saturday, when a holiday falls during the week. These dates are published in The Walpole Times and on Cable prior to the upcoming holiday. For a complete list of holidays, click here.

Garbage and rubbish shall be put out for collection no earlier than the day of collection.n Trash must be at the curb by 7:00 AM.

Each residence is allowed to put out 6 bags or 6 barrels of household trash and 1 large item per week. Bags must be tied and barrels covered. Large items include a couch, chair, bed carpet cut and rolled in 6 foot lengths, or lawn mover with fluids removed.

NO APPLIANCES WILL BE PICKED UP.

Residents moving in or out must call the Board of Health at (508)660-7321 to make arrangement for a one time only extra large pickup.

Household trash does not include:
  • Any Building Debris: such as tile, roofing materials, paneling or wood.
  • Any Appliances: such as refrigerators, water heaters, or air conditioners,
    TV's, computer monitors
  • Leaves and Grass: town composting area is located on Robbins Road.
  • Any Cardboard: Cardboard must be broken down (2'x 2') and put out for recycling. Or bring the cardboard to the dumpster at Compost area on Robbins Road.
  • Any Hazardous Materials: such as motor oil, oil based paint, kitchen cleaners.
  • Any Curbside Recyclable Item.
