The most common weather emergencies in our area are blizzards and hurricanes.  These weather events are the most likely to cause a state or local state of emergency to be declared.  While some municipalities will offer shelters, it is often a good idea to be prepared to stay in your home, should one of these emergency events occur.  That is why we encourage you to prepare your family and your household for an emergency.

Another less-common weather event in the Northeast is a tornado.  While tornadoes happen more frequently in other areas of the country, it is a good idea to learn the signs that indicate a possible tornado, so that you can be forewarned and prepared.
