There are many avenues available to interested groups and individuals to support the Walpole Public Library. We have created a variety of ways for you to get involved:
Get a Library Card
A Walpole Public Library card will give patrons access to the materials in the library's circulating collection. The library card will also give patrons access to the 28 other member libraries of the Old Colony Library network. With your library card, you will also gain access to the library's on-line databases, downloadable e-books and audiobooks, downloadable magazines and discounted museum passes.
Your membership to the Friends of the Walpole Public Library provides support for library programming and events. The Friends also fund a number of library initiative, such as our Summer Reading program and school vacation week programming, and augment our materials budget.
Honor and Memorial Gifts
A gift made in one’s name is always a meaningful way to mark a special occasion or to remember or honor a beloved family member, respected friend, or colleague. When you make a Memorial or Honor gift to The Walpole Public Library, we’ll send your honoree or their family a card acknowledging your generosity.
Donate Books and Materials
Please note that, due to space constraints and limited processing resources, the Library is unable to add all materials offered to us. Materials not added into the circulating collection will be put in the Friends of the Library on-going book sale. Proceeds of the Friends' Book Sale support library programs and initiatives.
Gifts of materials that are accepted by the Library become the absolute and unconditional property of the Library and cannot be returned to the donor for any reason. Once the Library takes possession of an item, the Library is free to make all decisions with respect to the retention, storage, processing, use, and disposition of that item.
The Walpole Public Library has played an important part in our Community since 1876. A long tradition of private giving has enriched the Library for over 125 years. The Library Endowment trust builds on that tradition of strong community support.
Individuals, businesses or foundations can contribute to the Endowment through gifts of cash, publicly traded securities or property. Gifts are held in perpetuity to provide capital that will generate an on-going and reliable source of future income for the Library. By establishing and growing this endowment, we assure that the Library will be able to meet the demands of our growing community.
The funds are professionally managed to ensure the safety of capital and maintain a proper balance between meeting income requirements and preserving capital to meet future needs.
If you would like to help build the Library's legacy with a contribution to the Endowment, you may do so by sending a gift payable to the Walpole Public Library Endowment Trust c/o Walpole Public Library, 143 School St. Walpole, MA 02081. If you have questions or a need for further information please contact the Library Director at 508-660-7334.
