Town Moderator

moderator is an official of an incorporated town who presides over the town meeting, and in some cases, other municipal meetings. In the United States, the area of the country best known for the town meeting form of government is New England. The office of moderator exists in at least Connecticut (Mandell c. 2007), MaineMassachusettsNew HampshireRhode Island (Advisory Opinion No. 2009-5 2009) and Vermont.

In addition to presiding over town meetings the Moderator appoints members of the Finance Committee, Capital Budget Committee and the Personnel Board. A description of the responsibilities of each can be found in the town's bylaws.

At this time I am actively seeking candidates interested in serving on all three Committees/Board. My goal is to appoint a diverse group of individuals representative of the town's population.
