Follow up to Boston Carting-Mailer-Trash/Recycling Toters

Mailer

*Bosting Carting-Flyer**

The Walpole Health Department wanted to follow up regarding the mailer which was sent out by our trash/recycling hauler, Boston Carting. There have been many questions regarding whether or not residents need to transition to toter style trash/recycling bins and if our collection contract has changed.

Please note, there has been NO change to our current collection contract. That being said, our hauler (Boston Carting) has new trucks with the mechanical arm that can accommodate the collection of the toters with the flip top lid. Since the collection contract hasn’t changed residents who fall under the towns collection, can continue to put their trash/recycling out in bags (trash) or regular bins/barrels if they choose.

To help streamline the collection process, Boston Carting has offered to provide the town (free of charge) toters as they get them. We have a limited supply of both trash and recycling toters (in various sizes) that will be delivered to the Robbins Road compost site this week. Residents are welcome to stop by the compost site (during operating hours- https://www.walpole-ma.gov/solid-waste-recycling/pages/robbins-road-comp...) to collect one recycling toter and one trash toter, while supplies last. Boston Carting will continue to drop toters as they get them in. Residents are also allowed to purchase their own toters at the store if they choose to do so. Please note that you cannot exceed the allotted trash limits (6 bags/barrels, not exceeding 210 gallons in total).
