For Immediate Release:
Due to high bacteria counts from water testing conducted on Wednesday July 17th & then again Thursday, July 18th the water quality at Hershman Pond located at Jarvis Farm(the old Sharon County Day Camp) does currently not meet the minimum standards of Massachusetts public swimming requirements and therefore public swim scheduled for this weekend at Jarvis Farm has been postponed until next weekend (7/27-7/28) pending water quality testing compliance. In lieu of this and the record setting temperatures expected this weekend the Walpole Recreation Department will reduce the daily swimming pool costs from $8 per person to $5 per person and the center pool will remain open until 9PM on Saturday and Sunday evening.
The Town is also opening a cooling center at the Walpole Cooperative Bank Senior Center located at 60 South St. from 10AM-6PM on Saturday for residents that may need to stay out of the heat during the record temperatures that are expected tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to continue to provide a fun, safe, and healthy summer for all. . Please stay cool this weekend. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly at 508-660-6353.
