Green Infrastructure and Road Crossing Culvert Survey

The Town became a certified MVP Community  February 2019

Road Crossing and Green Infrastructure Action  Grant: (2019-2021)

The Town recieved a MVP Action Grant for Road Stream Crossing and Green Infrastructure Assessment for 2019-2020. Our consultant, Fuss and O'Neill, completed the grant requirements in June 2021 working on the assessment of approximately 150 stream crossing culverts through-out the town. The stream crossings were  assessed for vulnerability to flooding for several factors and then rated and prioritized for upgrade or replacement. Over 30 areas within town-owned property and within town right-of-ways were evaluated  to assess for green infrastructure (GI) and low-impact development (LID) for stormwater management to reduce flooding and provide water quality benefits. The results are available on this website (see below Integrated Water Infrastructure Vulnerability Assessment and Climate Resiliency Plan. The public was invited to comment on the results of the assessment at a public meeting held on Zoom on March 24, 2021. The project was extended through 2021 do to the covid-19 pandemic and concluded in March 2021.

Public Hearing: On March 24, 2021, William Gunenther of Fuss and O'Neil,  present the Integrated Water Infrastructure Vulnerability Assessment and Climate Resiliency Plan  to the public at a Conservation Commission Meeting. The document which addresses the two componants of the grant Green Infrastructure Assessment and the road culvert survey are attached below with supporting documents and appendix. The Plan has a wealth of information on the Town's road culverts and suggested locations for green infrastructure to address existing flood prone areas through out the Town.
